With the start of the school year here, Barrack athletes are excited for the return of competitive sports, which have not been played since 2019. These sports include Girls’ and Boys’ Junior Varsity and Varsity Soccer, Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Tennis, and Co-Ed Cross Country. The Boys’ Soccer team was able to kick off the season with a convincing win over The Phelps School on the 13th of September with a score of 8-3. Along with that, the Girls’ Soccer team dominated their first game, winning 4-1 against AIM Academy. Although they have not had soccer practices in over a year, both teams were still able to start the season strong. The two soccer teams have a plethora of games ahead of them that will be no easy task, but hopefully the Cougars will work together and finish how they started.
Now spotlighting Tennis, the Middle School Girls’ began their season with a matchup vs. Academy of Notre Dame de Namur on September 30th. That same day, Girls’ Varsity Tennis debuted vs. New Foundations Charter High School. Hopefully school spirit will be palpable; there’s no doubt excitement will play a role in this long awaited season.
As for cross country, our long distance runners got to save their breath until September 30th. Both Middle School and Varsity took on AIM Academy in an away matchup, which was surely a test for those who haven’t run long distances in a couple of years. With all of our athletes working hard for their respective teams, we all wish them good luck for what’s coming. Go Cougars!
